1972 Triumph TR6
built December 1971 (day unknown) delived aboard the Daphne
Website for our 1972 TR6. 1971 wiring harness (PN: 311261) as witnessed by the tag hanging from the harness at the driver's left foot. Bought at an estate auction in May 2007. Started life Sienna Brown. Painted white prior to 1979. Painted red in 1979. That owner passed away and his wife kept the car in the garage until her death in 2006. It had been last registered in 1980. Initial efforts were to clean/flush the fuel system, renew the brakes, renew all drive train fluids, and then rebuild/adjust the carburetors, etc. Pretty much standard practices after setting for 27 years. The car came back to life better than I could have imagined! In fact, I ended up driving it for 2 years before starting a body off frame restoration. Several factors forced the decision to remove the body from the frame: I have another Triumph TR to drive (TR4), the car was still in good enough shape to avoid major metal work, the three paint jobs had left it needing 'cleaned' up, and I wanted to 'box in' the differential mounts, powder coat as many pieces as possible, and protect the frame and underbody. |
